Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Assault Support (SARSAS) provide support to anyone who has experienced rape or sexual assault at any time in their lives.
The Survivor Pathway is an online resource from SARSAS for anyone wanting to know more about specialist sexual violence support services in the South West.
SARSAS have produced a booklet for professionals working with people over the age of 55 who have experienced sexual harm.
SARSAS is part of the South West Rape Crisis Centre Partnership working on the Chilling Silence Project (funded by Comic Relief) to raise awareness of sexual violence against older women and to bring about change. It is a myth that only younger women are raped, sexually assaulted or sexually abused. Women can experience rape and sexual abuse at any time in their life.
KBSP and SARSAS delivered a webinar on the subject of sexual abuse and older women in November 2020. The recorded webinar It's never too late: a spotlight on older women who have experienced sexual violence is available to re-watch on the KBSP webinars webpage.
