The Bristol Safeguarding Adults Board commissioned a Safeguarding Adults Review into the circumstances surrounding the death of Christopher.
Christopher died in hospital as a result of a respiratory tract infection, short bowel syndrome and previous surgery for enterocolitis which were compounded by recent weight loss, being an in-patient with poor mobility, a poor cough reflex and recent general anaesthetic. He was admitted to hospital after becoming ill and losing significant weight as a result of refusing food and medication in his supported living provider’s care.
