The KBSP Shadow Board is made up of young people representing the Bristol Youth Council, Children in Care Council, Bristol Young Carers, Mentality, Freedom LGBTQ and Unity BME. They help the partnership to set their priorities for safeguarding work, and also conduct their own work.
The United Nations believes that every child and young person has the right to express their views and have them taken seriously.
The Shadow Safeguarding Children group informs the work of the KBSP by being a place where adults can ensure that children and young people are at the heart of designing services and being a forum where professionals can hear children and young people’s safeguarding issues and concerns.
If your youth participation group is interested in being represented on the Shadow Board please contact us.
Bristol Children’s Charter
The Bristol Children’s Charter is a set of ten pledges made by organisations from across the city to set the rights and best interests of children as a priority for decision makers in Bristol. The Shadow Board helped to develop and launch this Charter in 2018.
The Charter’s pledges range from the protection of children from harm and having opportunities to play a full role in shaping the city around them to being able to have positive choices about their lives and development.
Principles from the Charter influenced the development of the One City Plan.
