Shadow Board

KBSP Young People's Shadow Board

The KBSP Shadow Board is a group of young people that meet regularly to talk about how the decisions made by the Keeping Bristol Safe Partnership impacts young people. They discuss what changes they would like to see take place to keep young people safe and which goals the KBSP should set. The KBSP Shadow Board has members from Bristol Youth Council, Children in Care Council, Bristol Young Carers, Mentality, Freedom LGBTQ and Unity BME.

The United Nations believes that every child and young person has the right to express their views and have them taken seriously.

The KBSP Shadow Board uses their voice to make sure the adults in the KBSP keep child and young people at the heart of designing services and being a place where professionals can hear children and young people’s issues and concerns around safety.

If your youth participation group is interested in being represented on the Shadow Board please contact Jennifer Wills, Participation Projects Officer.

Bristol Children’s Charter

In 2018 Bristol held a free play event called Bristol Playday. During this event, organisations such as Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, Creative Youth Network, We the Curious and other organisations across the city, joined with families to come up with ten pledges. These pledges set out ways to prioritise young people’s rights and best interests.

The Charter’s pledges range from the protection of children from harm and having opportunities to play a full role in shaping the city around them to being able to have positive choices about their lives and development.

The Charter influenced and impacted the One City Plan.
